Tomorrow morning we will be sharing in our first service of Advent.
Thank you to the Elders for leading our service this morning and especially Sue for sharing the message.
Our Moderator Ruth has also prepared a short Advent message for us, which you will be able to see towards the end of the service.
Thanks to Kevin, Sue and the Gough family for putting up our Church Christmas tree and decorating it so beautifully. Our thanks to Sheelagh Bridgeman as well for preparing our church advent wreath for our services throughout Advent.
The All Age team have been hard at work over the past month planning some fun activities during the season of advent leading up to Christmas. We’ll let you know each week how you can get involved.
Our theme this year is going to be “Shine a Light”
During the All Age slot tomorrow, we’ll be focusing on Advent wreaths.
Lucy and Rachel will be demonstrating one way of making an Advent Wreath for your homes.
The colouring sheet that they used can be downloaded here so that you can print and colour in if you would like to. If you are not able to print the sheet or buy the small tea light candles please either contact Lucy or Pat England and we will assist you. You might have other ideas of designing your own wreath – it’s up to you!
Please take a photo of your wreath and send it through to Gerald by Wednesday evening. We look forward to receiving lots of your photos – I’ll be compiling a video of them to show during the service next Sunday.
We will be holding a live communion service next Sunday 6 December. Sue has a list of those who indicated they would like to attend that service and I know she would appreciate it if you could confirm your attendance before the end of the week.
Sue's contact details are: @ firstname.lastname@example.org.
A quick reminder of the details of the proposed Advent and Christmas “live” services are as follows:
Sunday 6 Dec - Advent 2 Morning Worship
Sunday 20 Dec - Advent 3 Christmas Services (lessons and recorded carols): we are considering holding a morning service which will be repeated in the evening at 6pm.
This would mean 30 spaces being available at both services, allowing for a total of 60 to attend a service on the day.
Thursday 24 Dec - Christmas Eve Midnight Communion at 11.30pm
Friday 25 Dec - Christmas Day service at 10am
Our Christingle service this year will be shown on our YouTube channel for both church and community. For obvious reasons it would be impractical to hold a live Christingle, however we are planning to make Christingle packs available for families to collect on Christmas Eve.
